Ultra-Marathon Training

I am training for the 50 Mile Challenge and mainly using the 25 min running and 5 min walking method and I can go for hours - I did with my buddy "G" the Coastal Viking Trail and some which was a total of 35+ Miles and then had 7 pints of Guiness - this method of running rocks!!!

Run-walking is a difficult skill for recovering road runners to learn. For short distance runners (I consider marathon and less to be "short" distance running), walking is seen as failure. Walking during an ultra is not failure, it is a tactic for success.

Once run-walking is mastered, there is (almost)no distance that is unreachable.

I like your post-running hydration with Guiness. That's sure as hell a lot better than one of those heavily-marketed recovery sports drinks.
